Rachael Ray Stuffed Green Peppers With Beef Rice Spinach and Cheese
04/05/2004
I didn't give it v stars 'cause I made changes based on others' suggestions that I felt improved the recipe. I halved the peppers (lengthwise), sauted onions separately forth with ii minced garlic pieces, cooked the rice separately, used one can of DICED tomatoes* (why would you ever buy a can of tomatoes and And so die them?), and mixed the ingredients together later on browning the beef**, assuasive them to warm slightly in the skillet earlier stuffing into the peppers. You can use the extra juice from the tin of tomatoes to go on the rice from burning. I also added quite a bit of basil, oregano, and Italian seasoning, as well every bit extra Worcestershire sauce. Putting simply a footling cheese in the lesser of each pepper helped too. Lastly, I simply used one tin can of tomato plant soup. Fifty-fifty cut in half, 25 min was needed to get them nice & hot. Next fourth dimension, I'll endeavor adding some pepper as well. * Using a can of diced tomatoes with jalepeno peppers adds merely the right corporeality of kick to these! **Y'all tin likewise utilise ane/two beef & 1/2 3-7% lean ground turkey to reduce fat content...tastes the same!

These were the all-time stuffed peppers I have always had. I only made some minor changes. I used 5 peppers instead of 6, and there was just barely plenty filling. I used onion pulverization instead of onion, lycopersicon esculentum sauce instead of tomato soup and beef broth instead of water for the rice. I also added some other half cup of cheese, simply I don't think a little more would injure. They taste even improve the second solar day.

Yum yum! I've never made blimp peppers before. These were great! I used footing turkey instead of beef b/c we're trying to eat healthier. Used Uncle Ben's converted Rice, in my opinion it is the best rice in a box. Used a large tin can of diced tomatoes, undrained. Did not even use love apple soup, I don't recollect you need to. Afterwards stuffing my peppers with the mixture, I just placed them right side up in a greased 9x13. Biggest tip - eddy your peppers for a proficient 5 minutes in the offset, before stuffing them, and make sure they are fully submerged beneath the water. If not, yous will likely stop up with pretty raw, crunchy peppers even after baking, unless you like to swallow them that way. One of my peppers was like this, it was the ane that never got submerged when boiling. The main matter I dearest near this recipe - you get your meat, starch, and green veggie all in one shot, and it is succulent and healthy! Thank you.

I don't like green peppers but hubby loves them so I had to requite this a try. He raved nearly this one! I did add together a tablespoon of minced garlic to the meat mixture and put grated sharp cheddar cheese on the tops of the peppers during the last five minutes of baking. I'll be making this 1 again for sure.

This is a decent simply very basic recipe. Here are my thoughts. First of all, don't cut the top off the pepper, information technology wastes also much pepper, cut it in half lengthwise. The beef and rice stuffing is rather bland. Easily liven it upwards by doubling (or more than) the Worcestershire. Fresh garlic adds to it too. Also, as others take already noted, adding some dried basil and/or oregano to the stuffing works well too. And why in the world would you lot buy a tin of whole tomatoes and so chop them? Merely utilize a tin of diced tomatoes! Don't utilize soup as the topping. Use your favorite pasta sauce. But if y'all practise use the tomato soup, don't add h2o, it will just dilute what little season there is. Simply pour the soup into a basin, rut it a flake in the microwave and stir. Viola, in that location's the gravy consistency the recipe calls for and no water needed. Later on stuffing the pepper, ladle on the pasta sauce and so using a second cup of cheese pinnacle each pepper. You tin then superlative the cheese with a sprinkle of dried oregano or Italian seasoning. Happy eating!

I idea these were good but I have had better. Per previous reviews, I too added a bay leaf, a beef bullion cube and a tsp of oregano when cooking the rice. I also used sharp cheddar cheese. Although there is rice in the peppers, we served over additional white rice so we could spoon the sauce over all. Although we liked the repast, I feel it needs a little more "umph" to top it off. It has groovy potential and I volition probally make over again merely I'll play around with it to detect the right blend to fully satisfy our tastebuds.

The sausage was a dainty alter from the usual ground beef or turkey. I didn't par melt the peppers and top of stove cook time was much less than an 60 minutes. Otherwise the recipe was a breeze. I didn't see anyone else mention this in the reviews, only three cups of rice would take been ridiculously way too much. I didn't fifty-fifty use two full cups of uncooked rice and information technology was plenty for the six peppers. I also didn't use instant rice, so perhaps that's what fabricated the deviation.
02/23/2014
Regarding some of the reviews, why bother rating the recipe if your going to make a full change to the person posting the recipe. Either you like it or you don't. I dislike when people do that. Everyone puts their own spin on things. If your going to do that, and then I propose putting your Ain recipe up on the site and not criticize or alter someone elses.

This was wonderful! I couldn't remember how my mom made them, but this recipe turned out but like hers! I used tomato sauce instead of tomato soup (I didn't have any on hand), and I used a loving cup of corn instead of the cheese...information technology tasted but like abode! Cheers Suzanne!
09/17/2011
This recipe is pretty much the way I cook my stuffed peppers. But instead of putting the green peppers in humid water, I constitute information technology was much easier to clean the green peppers, one-half them and put cut side down staggered on a drinking glass plate and so microwaving them for 3 - four minutes on high. Then make full and bake! They turn out perfectly!
08/05/2010
This is really close to my granmothers recipe but a whole lot more work! I don't pre-cook anything! Follow the instructions for prepping the peppers, combine the stuffing ingredients and lightly stuff the peppers, place in a dutch oven filled with soup/water combination, cover and simmer until peppers are soft and stuffing is cooked through. A lot less work and you're not lighting the oven! I usually brand some extra meatballs out of the stuffing mix for those of us who don't similar peppers. Served with mashed potatoes and the gravy from the peppers alongside cucumber salad and sweetcorn yous've got a great repast!

My swain and I simply LOVE this stuffed bong pepper recipe... we did follow a few of the suggestions made by other reviewers and I think it adds up to the perfect dish: *Slice the peppers length wise and remove the seeds, and after boiling, sprinkle a little cheese inside each half *Double, or even triple the worcestershire *Use a can of diced tomatoes with the seasoning already added (we chose garlic and basil) *Cook the rice in beef or craven broth in a separate pan, this helps ensure that the rice is tender and flavorful.. and so add together it to the beef and simmer for 5-10 mins and then it all blends together *Add together garlic to the beef and onions while cooking *Dont add water to the tomato soup, and make sure yous sprinkle cheese on elevation of the peppers before baking! :) Delish!

I gave this recipe 5 stars because information technology is a great base of operations recipe that tin can be customized pretty easily. I followed the communication of other reviewers and fabricated the following changes. I sauteed some minced garlic with the footing beef and onion. I besides had some bong pepper left over that I needed to apply, and so I chopped that up and sauteed that with the mixture as well. I used a tin of diced tomatoes with green chiles (undrained) in identify of the whole peeled tomatoes and doubled the Worcestershire. I used beefiness broth in place of the 1/ii loving cup of water and some Italian seasoning and some cayenne pepper for extra seasoning. For the cheese, I had a Cheddar Jack alloy and made sure to sprinkle some on elevation during the concluding five minutes of baking. Information technology was very tasty! The rice wasn't quite done after simmering in the beef mixture for xv minutes, so side by side time I volition cook the rice separately and add it at the end. Next time I'm also going to attempt wild rice for a little extra season.
08/05/2010
OH my goodness. Everyone should Always cook rice earlier adding it to beef stuffings! Cabbage rolls, cook the rice beginning, stuffed peppers, melt the rice first. E'er await at your ingredients showtime. If there is a ingredient that takes longer to cook than the main ing. melt it first, cool it earlier adding information technology to the main ing. so yous dont kickoff the cooking process before you lot pop it in the oven. Rate 4 stars

I thought these were good but I have had better. Per previous reviews, I too added a bay foliage, a beefiness bullion cube and a tsp of oregano when cooking the rice. I besides used abrupt cheddar cheese. Although there is rice in the peppers, we served over boosted white rice then we could spoon the sauce over all. Although nosotros liked the meal, I experience information technology needs a little more "umph" to elevation information technology off. It has great potential and I will probally make once more only I'll play effectually with information technology to find the right blend to fully satisfy our tastebuds.

Super like shooting fish in a barrel and so tasty! I fabricated it for ii, but don't trust the measurements when y'all change the servings. I made it with ii greenish peppers, split in halves. Sauteed onions & celery and added some garlic pulverization. Used 1 pound of footing beef, 1 cup of rice and i tin of rotel chopped tomatoes. I added 1 cup of water and a dash of worcestershire sauce. Mix in the cheese then stuff the greenish peppers. I heaped the mixture on to each bong pepper where it was inundation just still in the pepper. Covered with love apple soup and water mixture, cheese and panko breadcrumbs for xxx mins. Oh sooooo expert! Information technology makes a lot of "stuffing" only its perfect!
07/12/2011
The only reason I gave information technology 4 stars instead of 5 was considering I made changes. ane. I use tomatoe sauce not soup, I add spices to it. 2. I used flavored diced tomatoes likewise. 3. Instead of stuffing the peppers then pouring everything on top. I layer it. Cheese, meat, sauce. Until I go to the top. That way it's not dry out. And of grade I put a lot of cheese on top. My family and our friends LOVE them!
07/xix/2011
I take read a few of the reviews and noticed that anybody was baking the stuffed peppers. When I was younger my family unit cooked the stuffed peppers, standing up in tomatoe sauce (nigh one-half way upwardly the pepper) in a large covered pot - just saying, its an alternative to par humid them and they come up out tender and delicious.
07/19/2011
My wife and I accept been making them this style for years, simply when the kids were smaller they didn't similar the green peppers and would exit them on the plates. We decided that was a waste and then we chopped them into pocket-size pieces and put them in the sauce pan with the remainder of the fixings. They never knew and ate every bit of information technology and asked for seconds..To this mean solar day when nosotros take a family unit get together they will ask u.s. to make this or our pizza sandwiches which is another story for some other twenty-four hours!!!
07/nineteen/2011
Try using crimson peppers! They add a sweetness that is delicious. Substituting turkey in these is great. Lose some fat, just the gustation is still great.
06/20/2012
After 3-4 times preparing this recipe, I always use this ane as a base of operations, taking quite a few liberties, due to time constraints and family preferences. I parboil the peppers for 10 minutes. After slicing the tops off the peppers, I chop the remnants and sautee them forth with my onions. I then dark-brown 93/seven hamburger meat with our family unit'southward favorite spices (I also add together considerably more than than i tsp of worchestershire likewise!). I throw in a mixture of 1/2 cheddar and one/2 mozzarella (or Italian blend or whatever else I accept on hand) and mix that right into the warm meat mixture. I also cheat and use the 90-second Uncle Ben'south Wild Rice pouch and mix that right into the hamburger/cheese mixture as well. I like a bit more structure and season to my sauce, so I use the Love apple Cream Sauce for Pasta, found on this site besides. I and then add a couple ladles of the sauce to the hamburger and blend well. Information technology makes the hamburger/rice mixture but the perfect consistency to spoon into the peppers. Then, I cascade the remaining sauce over the assembled peppers, add more cheese to the pepper tops and bake for xx minutes (parboiling the peppers a flake longer volition shorten your baking time). Easy peasy...not to mention wonderfully delicious! This is a great recipe to add your flair to since you tin sub out different colored peppers, use ground turkey instead of hamburger meat, play around with sauces, etc. Thanks for the submission....I'll use this recipe as my base over and over once again.
07/19/2011
I also use tomato paste rather than tomatoes, as well tomato soup is too sweet so I employ tomato juice if needed. We don't like green peppers so I use scarlet, orange or yellowish, they're sweeter and not so "bitey". After stuffing the peppers, my mom always just put them in the skillet, topped them with more cheese, the tomato plant juice and cooked them covered till heated through. No baking required. She also added basil, parsley and garlic to the beefiness mixture. She made these for over 65 years, and her mother before her so she had fourth dimension to perfect the recipe.
02/07/2011
Delicious! I cut recipe in half, used ground turkey and much seasoning. Minced garlic and two huge yellowish peppers. Sprinkled shredded Mexican cheese mix. A hit with my husband. Thanks!
09/18/2010
I gave this four stars instead of 5 only because the tips from other reviewers seemed to amend the recipe drastically. Bottom line: The peppers were excellent! From others' suggestions, I added 2 cloves of garlic (chopped); added lots of Italian seasoning, plus more basil and oregano; used diced, canned tomatoes flavored with basil and oregano; doubled the Worchestershire; substituted spaghetti sauce for tomato soup; doubled the rice and cooked it ahead of time; used some ruby-red peppers as well as green ones; and used at least 1.5 cups of grated cheddar. The 60-minute fourth dimension frame is conservative, peculiarly if you lot make it the way I did. Cooking the rice alone took 20 minutes; I had to cook two batches of peppers; browning the beef took about 15 minutes; and the peppers cooked in the oven at least 35 minutes. All in all, a corking bones recipe, easily adapted to what you have on manus and what your family unit prefers. I'll definitely make these once again.

I made my stuffed peppers like this when I first started cooking but at present that I've gotten back to eating healthier, I've lightened it upwards a flake. We don't like green bell peppers so I use red, orange or yellow. I now utilise ground turkey, fire-roasted tomatoes, brownish rice that I've cooked earlier manus and I omit the water. I also utilise organic tomato sauce and throw in a mess of minced fresh garlic. This totally bends well to what I accept on mitt and if I desire to brand it stretch with half the meat, I sub in shredded or chopped veggies (we favor zucchini, carrots, spinach or broccoli) and sometimes I'll spice it upwardly with a teaspoon or ii of homemade italian seasoning or taco seasoning. Whatever I catch showtime. This is ever a filling meal that my family e'er inhales. If you've got the fourth dimension and patience, this is also a proficient recipe to double and freeze ane container for another time.

Nosotros love this recipe and I did not change a affair. I was depression on dark-green pepper in one case when i made this and then I chopped upwards what I had and made a goulash and it turned out merely as good. Thanks for the great piece of cake recipe, I will make again and again
06/20/2011
This is a great recipe, simply I did brand some changes. I similar brown rice instead of white, so I just cooked it seperate and added it to the meat and love apple mixture. (Don't add the water if you are calculation already cooked rice.) I doubled all the spices (onion, pepper, etc. and added garlic.) Then, I mix the grated cheese in with the meat mixture before stuffing the peppers. My whole family loves information technology.

I try out new recipes from online sites almost every calendar week. Though I have tried probably hundreds of recipes, I take only written a couple of reviews because though most recipes are ok, none are sooo good or sooo bad to warrant a review. But this stuffed pepper recipe is an exception. It is fabulous. I thought I had a good blimp pepper recipe but this one is much better. If your family likes blimp peppers, give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
06/28/2011
I never grew upwardly on stuffed peppers, and so I similar to endeavour a variety of recipes since I don't know what "right" tastes like. I remember I may have finally figured information technology out tonight. I kept the amounts the same, just swapped out some smoked provola and scamorza for the cheddar, since I like to employ as much local ingredients as possible. For anyone who tin get their hands on existent Italian cheese, a 50/50 blend of smoked provola and scamorza is admittedly amazing in these peppers. I was hesitant on using a tin of tomato soup every bit a gravy, but it really did add together that extra touch that I feel stuffed peppers need. I'll even so try new recipes out, merely this is certainly our families default from here on out.
07/19/2011
I like this recipe. I use poblano peppers instead of bell peppers considering I like the poblano sense of taste over bell peppers. If you have out the white membrane and seeds, you lot take out the heat.
07/xix/2011
I modified this recipe a bit based on what was cheaper and what I had on manus... Offset I used 4 green peppers and lean ground turkey meat. I cooked the onion outset, and then I cooked the turkey with it, seasoned with due south&p and a little oregano. I had a packet of that 90 second rice, long grain brown from practiced old uncle ben, so I added that. I never added worcestershire sauce, and I substituted the tomato soup for ii 8 oz cans of obviously old tomato sauce. I mixed everything together (minus about 1/three c tomato sauce) in a bowl and added nearly 3 tbsp of good quality parm cheese. I spooned the rest of the tomato sauce into the bottoms of the peppers, then filled them to the top with the mixture. I covered the baking pan tightly with foil and baked on 350 for 45 minutes. With 10 minutes left I uncovered them and threw a ton of cheddar cheese on meridian. I also notice information technology tastes astonishing with cholula hot sauce.
02/24/2008
wow, i'd requite this 6 stars if i could. i fabricated these because my boyfriend likes stuffed peppers, merely we both loved them!! i made a few modifications. instead of the tomato soup and whole peeled tomatoes, i only added two tablespoons of garlic, 3 teaspoons of italian seasoning, two 8oz cans of tomato sauce, and ane xiv.5oz can of diced tomatoes (with garlic, basil, and oregano) into the simmering meat mixture. i also used lean ground beef and a parmesan/mozerella cheese mix vs. the cheddar. its actually practiced if you put the extra stuffing mix in the blistering dish around the peppers. in the concluding x minutes of cooking, i topped each pepper with mozerella and parmesan cheeses and broiled until browned. so yummy!!
09/21/2006
I didn't read other reviews before making this. A few comments on the recipe: 1. There is no human way rice could ever go from uncooked to tender in 15 minutes. Melt it ahead. 2. I printed a shopping listing w/o reading the recipe, and it doesn't make sense to buy whole tomatoes only to chop them. I'd apply pre-diced. So. Aside from the rice beingness crunchy (after adding 10 minutes of simmer time) and there non being enough filling for the sixth pepper, the overall season of these was adept. I felt information technology needed more rice and perhaps some other ingredients to bring it to a five star level. Thanks though.
01/thirteen/2006
I didn't like blimp peppers equally a child, but I sure exercise now! I loved this recipe!!! The merely affair that I did differently was add together a pocket-size can of drained sweetness corn (frozen would piece of work also). I really like the tomato sauce that the peppers cook in, and have not plant many recipes like this one (i.e. peppers topped with tomato plant sauce). These peppers freeze well, so it'due south worth your while to make a double batch. I was stumped almost what to serve with them, though (seems equally if something is missing...). The only thing I could think of was peach well-baked. Everything esle seemed redundant (i.e. potoatoes with "rice" stuffed peppers, another veggie with a veggie, etc.). Yum! Yum!
07/19/2011
I was going to annotate on this recipe, telling yous how I fabricated this the other night. Just most of the ingredients w
07/10/2011
LOve this recipe but I as e'er read reviews. I made changes to mine and my husbands liking. I have fabricated this recipe twice, the showtime time I used half pound hamburger and one-half pound sausage. instead of water I used beefiness goop. I used mozzrella chees since it melts meliorate and I used Rotell. I looked at alot of photos that others had shared and I was alittle grossed out that the pepper and filling was floating in Tomato soup (I used Tomato sauce). I but used virtually a ane/4 cup of tomato sauce to line the bottom of the pan and a few little drips of sauce in each pepper and added mozzerella cheese on top. Very wonderful recipe but eveb better with the changes I made. The 2d fourth dimension I made it. it was requested and I did not have Hamburger so I used only sausage and it had lots more flavor.
09/20/2011
uh...dont utilize long grain brown rice. plainly it takes much longer to cook and you'll end up with crunchy rice in your blimp peppers. :( ii hours wasted. :(
07/25/2011
Nosotros don't intendance for smushy peppers, and then not wanting to accept a gamble on humid for 5 minutes, I microwaved them for almost 45 seconds. Then, with the baking time, they came out but right for u.s.a..
08/13/2012
This is the start time I take e'er made stuffed Green Peppers. My whole family, including my son's xi year old friend & my 13 year old daughter, loved these!! I did employ others ideas. I did iii/4 cup rice & water & I added all seasonings you would put in spaghetti sauce, like Italian, Parsley, Basil, garlic common salt, Oregano & of course iii fresh garlic cloves. I as well used only ane can of the soup, as I do not like too much tomato flavor. I also put the meat mixture in 1/2 way, then the soup, then more meat & more soup & did non elevation it with more cheese. It didn't need more & I do count calories. This was a really nice, filling dish!!
12/26/2010
I have e'er loved blimp bell peppers, and when I was given a large box of produce I jumped at the chance to make them (much to the distain of my poor hubby, lol). I did brand my own changes (I did non read the other's reviews beforehand, simply noticed a lot of similarities). First off, I never accept canned tomato soup on hand. So instead I used 2 8oz cans of lycopersicon esculentum sauce. I poured information technology into a basin and added a generous corporeality of garlic powder, common salt, pepper, onion powder, basil, and Italian seasoning. I mixed it well and it tasted delicious equally my "tomato soup". And then, instead of the canned chopped tomatoes (I had none on manus), I added 2 8oz canned to the browning footing beef. Then in my pot was browning basis beef and onions, table salt, pepper, onion pulverization, garlic powder, rice, and maybe 3 tablespoons of worcestershire sauce. I did not have whatsoever chedder cheese, then I shredded a cake of mozzarella cheese instead-which turned out cracking! Later on I baked everything in the oven, information technology was DELICIOUS! My husband was even shocked that his childhood dinner nightmare was so tasty. I say that this recipe is well worth the 5 stars. :) I always add together extra seasonings to everything.
06/xiv/2011
This recipe was a nice base of operations only turned out fantastic with a few changes. I used Rotel in identify of the whole tomatoes and substituted the tomato soup with a tin of tomato sauce. I cooked the rice in the rice cooker and so added it to the meat and sauce mix. I used beefiness broth in place of the water which added a lot of flavor! I also decided to use mozzerella cheese instead of cheddar since that'due south what my mom used to e'er use when I was growing upwardly! They were so good and were non bland equally others have mentioned. Information technology is probably the changes I fabricated. Boyfriend loved them...will definitely exist making again!
09/22/2002
I have made this recipe twice. And changed the combination somewhat. I increased the rice to two/3 cup along with the water. Reduced the soup to 1 can. Added oregano, garlic & beef bouillion. And increased the simmer time & baking time when using uncooked rice. Next time I will employ cooked rice.
08/05/2010
I made these last night for dinner and they were excellent. I did make some minor changes, I used three big bell peppers and cutting them length wise and blimp each half. I merely used ane tin can of tomato soup and a can of diced tomatos and seasoned the meat with Garlic Salt, blackness pepper, onion and minced garlic, the worchestire and a nuance of cayanne pepper. I used the same powders seasonings in the tomato soup on the top. I likewise used minute rice, I topped the peppers with sharp cheddar cheese (added the last 5 minutes). They turned out excellent, my married man and male parent loved them!! This would be a great stuffing for cabage rolls also :)
01/10/2012
I read some of the other reviews and here's what I did .... I added garlic and onion powder, a piffling chip of oregano, 1/2 tsp more than of the Worcestershire sauce, and a small squirt of Cherry Hot sauce .... I put a trivial bit of cheese in the bottom of the peppers before I filled them .... I filled the peppers half full and put a little of the tomato soup mix in .... I did Not mix ANY of the cheese in with the mixture .... I finished filling the peppers, put in more than tomato soup, and So I topped it all with the cheese .... when I used the tomato soup, I added virtually one/2 can of water, OH .... and I also used a can of diced tomatoes like other reviewers said .... AND I had about 1 cup of leftover corn (frozen not canned) and added that .... they came out fantastic .... do Not be afraid to season because they would have been incredibly bland had I not put seasoning in ...
12/09/2007
These turned out really well. I added a bit of finely diced celery to the beef/onion sautee, used more worcestershire sauce and added some garlic powder. The mixture seemed a picayune dry so I added a tin of tomato sauce to it. I was able to stuff five peppers... not enough mixture for half-dozen. Very moist and flavorful even without the tomato soup. Volition make over again. Thanks, Suzanne!
07/25/2011
I gave this recipe four stars instead of 5 because it calls for un-cooked rice. Doesn't say instant rice, just rice. When I made these I followed the recipie exactly and the rice was no where most done. When I make these again I will employ instant rice or pre-cook the rice. Not very good when your crunching on un-cooked rice
07/xix/2011
This is essentially the recipe mom made when i was a kid! She mixed the soup into the beefiness/rice earlier stuffing the peppers and there was some hot sauce or chili flakes mixed in likewise, simply a classic recipe that has endured!
10/03/2011
Delicious...I take had stuffed peppers earlier and they have just been ok, simply these are not bad. I fabricated a few slight changes. Just added a scrap more worchestershire sauce, garlic seasoning common salt and used a 3 cheese nacho alloy cheese, also added some parmesean. As another reviewer suggested I put some tomato soup half mode down the pepper. I used cherry, green and xanthous peppers for some colour. They are very hearty and filling and full of flavor. Try it!
08/01/2011
Sauteed my onion and fresh minced garlic in extra virgin olive oil. Added, ground turkey meat, basil, oregano, and cilantro. I used red bell peppers rather than green as the ruby-red has a slightly sweeter gustatory modality to me. Placed some shredded white extra sharp cheddar cheese in the lesser of the peppers, filled half the pepper with the meat mixture, and so a spoon total of condensed tomato soup, and so finished filling the peppers and topped with another spoon full of love apple soup. Baked at 375 degrees F for 45 minutes. Placed some more shredded extra sharp cheddar cheese on tiptop of the peppers for the last 5 minutes of baking. Whoooo, Buuuuddy! It was delicious! Served with steamed broccoli and cauliflower with a side of black olives. It garnered me another Postage stamp of Approval (SOA) honour from Mi Gato Loco.
08/20/2005
Not bad. Simply if you lot follow these directions the rice WILL Non exist cooked. Either precook the rice or increase the water to 1 cup and melt rice for 25 min.
06/05/2006
I suppose the recipe past itself isn't 4 stars, just its a good base to customize to your families gustatory modality. I added a lot of different seasonings. I precooked the rice in chicken broth in my rice cooker. If you keep the rice slightly on the dry out side, information technology will withal absorb more moisture when baking w/o getting soggy. I sauteed the meat by itself. While information technology was draining I sauteed the onion (used double what was called for) with some minced garlic and so added the meat back in. I used a whole can of diced tomotoes(and juice) and one-half a 15 oz can tomato sauce. The rest of the seasonings I added a petty at a time until it tasted right: garlic seasoned salt, garlic, white pepper, blackness pepper, i cube beef bullion, cumin, oregano, thyme, worchestshire sauce, louisiana hot sauce, lots of balmy cheddar, I remember that's all. I just kept calculation until I like information technology. I done and salted the peppers, only did not par boil them. I prefer them to exist less washed and accept more construction. They were topped with sliced mild cheddar. I used half the meat mixture and froze the remainder. I will update when I apply the next half, but I expect it will exist but fine, not much different than freezing meatloaf mix which I exercise all the fourth dimension.
09/20/2006
this was very skillful and very easy to make. the but thing that i will modify is the texture of the meat stuffing. i am used to adding egg and breadcrumbs with rice. the simply matter really holding together the stuffing was the cheese added. i will use this recipe again, but i will make the stuffing the traditional fashion.
04/24/2008
My family loved this dish. Yet, I practise want to add that brand sure you don't boil the peppers for more 4 min. They become to flimsy and tear. But, overall GREAT!
07/22/2011
I changed the recipe somewhat, in place of onions I added half a pack of instant onion soup mix. Instead of 2 cans of tomato soup I used ane can soup and ane cup ketchup for the sauce. I also used a can of diced tomatoes with peppers. This was really proficient and the kids liked it. Also, easy to prepare... will make this again.
10/08/2012
Par-boiling the peppers actually makes this recipe shine! No more likewise crunchy pepper with overcooked filling! I use more seasoning than this recipe calls for - I similar to add a bunch of Italian seasoning to the beefiness mixture. I likewise prefer using pre-cooked frozen rice rather than uncooked rice whenever I can detect it. Then you can shorten the fourth dimension the mixture simmers before adding information technology to the peppers. I also like to mix my favorite spaghetti sauce into the beef/rice mixture in advance rather than pouring a can of banal (and super salty!) lycopersicon esculentum sauce over the top.

Delicious! Sometimes I mix the tomato soup in with the meat, etc., then stuff the peppers and skip the baking part to save time. I've likewise substituted kidney beans for the meat for a nice, hearty vegetarian repast. And when we're feeling a picayune spicy, I use a can of diced tomatoes and green chilies instead of regular tomatoes.
12/03/2006
YUMMY! I did a few things diffrent. Cooked rice starting time..added corn and kidney beans ...a few spices chili pulverisation cumin (chili similar)...only the thing that fabricated it extra special for me and my family unit was sour cream mixed in at the aforementioned time as the cheese....also the last 5 minutes I took the cover off and added some more cheese on top!!!!!!!!!!
08/05/2010
The filling is delicious. The second fourth dimension I made them I used a big canteen of tomato juice with 1/3 cup dark-brown sugar, instead of the tomato plant soup. This was a very tasty twist to stuffed peppers.
08/05/2010
These are delicious every bit is.
08/07/2003
This recipe was wonderful when stock-still up a scrap. My husband loved information technology. I did take others advice by adding more than spices. I added minced garlic, onion powder, seasoned common salt, oregano and one beef boullion cube. It was aesome and full of flavor. I added extra farmhouse cheddar cheese to top off the meat and tomato plant soup. At the end I also added some parmesan to height it off. Thanks a lot for the recipe.
12/31/2011
This was my get-go time trying stuffed bell peppers ever and they were and then succulent. I can't imagine that at that place could be a better recipe to use. So yummy! Nosotros've added this to our dinner rotation. We utilise ground turkey. We too use a can of diced tomatoes instead of whole peeled tomatoes. And we only use about one tin can of lycopersicon esculentum soup, not diluted. For the love apple soup, we fill up the peppers near halfway with the meat mixtre, then add together 1-2 spoonfulls of tomato soup in each pepper, then fill the rest of the way with the meat mixture. Top with sauce, then more shredded cheddar cheese. We also only brand 4 peppers. This recipe fills 4 peppers up to the top with merely the right amount of mixture.

Y'all HAVE TO TRY THIS~!!! Add together 1 pkg. ortega taco flavour(smoky chipotle season) to ground beefiness after browned. CHIPOTLE Season TACO SEASON Non REGULAR. the chipotle flavour is much different from regular taco flavour. instead of two cans tomato soup, use 1 can tomato plant and ane tin can campbells southwest style pepper jack. Crawly Flavour!!
04/24/2006
I've made a like recipe for years, this was very good. The only change I made was to cook the green peppers in the microwave with a little water for about vi minutes in a covered dish-the same dish I used to bake them, saves dishes and is easier. I didn't have love apple soup, then used Chase'due south tomato sauce instead-turned out bang-up. Thanks
ten/17/2002
I found this recipe to be extremely bland. I have had blimp peppers before and accept always enjoyed them since they were extremely flavorful. The finished product reminded me of lean college days eating Chef Boy R Dee!!! This was a waste product of fourth dimension, free energy, and ingredients.
08/13/2007
My family really enjoyed these. Instead of removing the tops, I cut them in half lengthwise and had two peppers to stuff.
08/07/2005
This is a bang-up recipe! However, I inverse the following based on previous reviews: used ii cans rotel original tuckered instead of whole peeled tomatoes, used 1/4 loving cup Worcestershire sauce, 1 1/ii cups cooked rice, 2 cups fat free cheedar cheese and ane/ii cup fat free mozarella for topping, and added fresh garlic and cumin to the footing beef. I too used 96/iv lean ground beef. Made this dish very healty and tasty. If going by Weight Watchers this comes to but 6 points per pepper!
12/03/2012
My family LOVED this recipe. I didn't find that it was very saucy ... I liked that, because information technology was less messy for my children to swallow. Definitely a expert tummy filler and tasty!
08/05/2001
There were quite a few seps to this recipe. Overall, the recipe was delicious just a little time consuming.
07/eighteen/2011
Slightly bland but I used Spicy V8 instead of lycopersicon esculentum sauce, really made a difference
09/05/2014
It was a scrap bland. Next time I will double the worchestershire sauce and add garlic, equally others have suggested. Too, I ofttimes assemble stuffed peppers alee of time and freeze them until needed. I but place the filled peppers on a cookie canvas in the freezer until they're completely solid, then wrap them individually and seal them in a freezer bag. To bake, I remove the needed peppers, unwrap and thaw them on a paper towel, then transfer them to a baking dish and bake for 25-thirty minutes.
09/28/2011
This was my first time making stuffed peppers. They came out pretty good! My boyfriend loved them, he said they were amazing. Personally I thought information technology was very practiced but a little banal. I would definitely add more worcestershire sauce and a lot more cheese side by side time. I eyeballed the measurements of everything and then I tin't really say exactly how much of each ingredient I used. Simply two pointers: don't hold back on the cheese or the tomato soup. Next fourth dimension I'm going to layer the cheese and tomato plant soup a few times with the beef & onion mixure inside the pepper. I'll besides probably add some actress spices to the beef. But I will definitely brand these once more! With my own tweaks. :)
07/19/2011
I wouldve given information technology 5 cause it turned out wonderful, simply i made a few changes. I didnt employ the Worcestersire sauce but added 4 cloves of garlic mc cormic italian seasoning grinder ane tsp soy sause 1 tsp cider vinegar actress onions and instead of tomatoe soup i used trader joes roasted tomatoe and red pepper soup. It was wonderful
10/06/2002
This is a great recipe. I used a mixture of beef and sauage and a fiddling more cheese. We're cheese crazy.
08/05/2010
Nice recipe, only did anyone e'er use 1/ii depression fatty content basis beef and 1/2 ground pork? I use this [half and half mixture] for all my recipes, i.e. hamburgers, meatloaf, stuffed cabbage. Just a hint my grandmother gave me 50 years ago. I like this recipe with all the extras added....garlic, etc.
06/08/2010
The whole family loved information technology, even my pickiest boy. I used diced tomatoes with light-green chiles instead of whole, and a large can of tomato sauce instead of soup. I added garlic and cumin to the tomato sauce. I followed others advice and used beefiness broth instead of water and added extra worcestershire and garlic. I could take but eaten the filling on its own! Neat texture and lots of flavor.
12/08/2010
This was the first fourth dimension I made blimp peppers and it will NOT be the last! They were then expert! I made this recipe exactly how it told me to.
03/04/2013
I tried this recipe considering I'g always into trying something new. First off, I used two large green peppers and the recommended meat and rice measurements worked just fine. I opted to utilise footing turkey since I don't eat red meat and used my normal seasoning during the browning stage. I too chose not to salt the within of the peppers since they were previously boiled in salted water. All in all the peppers came out fine. 1 modify I'll make next fourth dimension though is to cook the rice a separate pot to ensure information technology is cooked thoroughly. While eating I noticed some grains of rice semi hard.
08/08/2006
Great Recipe!! Cheers, these were the best blimp peppers I ever had! Although I did change a few things, I added i/two cup of more than cheese which next fourth dimension I think I might had a total cup more, I used diced tomatoes in Italian Seasoning, and 1 tin of tomatoe soup and 1 of sauce, and also added only a dash extra of wostechire sauce. Yum Yum Yum, cheers again :)
02/25/2009
Fabricated these concluding night with ii yellow,2 red,two orange and 2 green peppers. Doubled the recipes for 8 large peppers, worked out fine. Did non use tomatoe soup instead using tomatoe sauce. Anybody loved them. Volition exist making more and frezzing then for a busy 24-hour interval. Thanks for the recipe :)
08/20/2005
This recipe was a neat starting point, simply the second fourth dimension I made them I definitely "kicked it up a notch." I added iii cloves of garlic, doubled the Worcestershire sauce, added a tablespoon of tomato paste, and added some cumin and cayenne. I also substituted light cheddar for the cheddar. If you lot soak the rice in a half cup of hot water while the meat mixture is cooking, information technology helps to soften the rice. The first time I fabricated them, the rice was still a little crunchy; 2nd time (when I soaked the rice), it was perfect. I also chose not to pre-melt the peppers, as we prefer them crunchy.
02/03/2002
It'due south absurd to consume a repast in a pepper and it's surprising how filling those little rascals are. I like dem stuffed bell peppers, mmm...hhmm! My master concern while preparing this meal was to watch over the rice carefully. While cooking the rice mixture, the water kept evaporating. If you don't proceed adding water, the rice may burn to the pan. Besides, you lot may want to cook the rice a chip longer than 15 minutes to get the rice more tender. My wife was impressed with my cooking abilities. This recipe fabricated me look like a champ!
07/31/2011
Very good! I fabricated a couple of changes like other users did. I used turkey instead of beefiness, and diced tomatoes instead of whole peeled. I added more worcestershire than called for, added italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, garlic salt and a half a bundle of good seasons italian dressing. I too cooked the rice and sautéed the onion (and garlic) and then combined information technology (I used brown infinitesimal rice-so like shooting fish in a barrel). On the big peppers I layered sauce (tomato soup), meat, sauce, meat so cheese and sauce. It definitely made a difference! The tomato soup adds a little sweet.
08/05/2012
Used footing turkey, diced tomatoes w/chiles (definitely!) and added nearly v oz. spaghetti sauce (saved the rest for another dinner - worth it; trust me), followed the residual of recipe equally is. Delicious! Everyone loved! The best green peppers ever.
x/07/2011
This is a wonderful recipe. I did add together crushed garlic to the onions and ground beef and increased the corporeality of Worcestershire sauce to i TBLS. I also use just one can of tomato plant soup. After making this recipe iii times, I observe it turns out just a trivial bit different each fourth dimension; most likely information technology's the size of the green peppers. Sometimes I accept more than stuffing than peppers. I only freeze it for some other repast. A very delicious meal...cheers for the recipe!!
03/thirteen/2011
I made this recipe for the first time a few years ago. Concluding week, I was peckish stuffed peppers so pulled this one out. I had forgotten what a hit this was with the family. Absolutely succulent...I'll have to go far more frequently. The gravy made from tomato soup is probably our favorite function of the dish. Yum!
03/10/2010
I take never fabricated stuffed peppers before and this recipe turned out really expert. I did goof and add together an extra one/ii cup of rice because the first 1/two loving cup didn't look like enough to me but I was incorrect. Yous only need one/2 cup rice total as the recipe calls for. I also added lots more cheese to the top because cheese is my favorite ingredient.
10/11/2012
This recipe was pretty good. I followed it as written. For flavor, I'd give it 5 stars,(definitely brand sure to salt and pepper the beef to your liking while browning information technology considering that makes a big difference for the overall outcome) just iv overall because the rice was still hard. And I fifty-fifty cooked it over an hour to see if that would help, but it didn't! So, personally, these are the changes I'd make next time; utilize one cup cooked rice, Drain the can of diced tomatoes, and mix in the soup topping a bit throughout the beefiness mixture, as it did not seep through information technology. So information technology will be perfect!
01/17/2007
This was the tertiary time I've fabricated this recipe. There's none like it. Information technology'south admittedly delicious.I didn't use the Worcestershire sauce and just used 1 can of tomato soup(considering that's all I had) I also broiled information technology at 325 degrees for 1 hour. It tasted much amend cooking it longer
02/24/2013
I gave this recipe v stars fifty-fifty though I fabricated some changes because the recipe would be adept without changes. I usually make enough to freeze for futurity meals and then the recipe was doubled. I didn't blanch the peppers because I don't like them mushy, and freezing tends to soften them anyway. I didn't salt the within of the peppers as we don't demand extra salt. I used basmati dark-brown rice and cooked it separately in beefiness broth seasoned with garlic powder, onion pulverization, and cumin. I used canned diced tomatoes. It didn't make sense to get whole ones to chop. I also added 2 tsp. Italian seasoning and minced garlic to the beef mixture. The stuffed peppers were loved by my family, and they freeze very well. Each was wrapped in plastic wrap to preclude freezer fire, and then put into large baggies.
09/10/2008
I used pizza sauce instead of tomato soup. Liked it much improve. My husband loved these this way.
01/25/2003
My Husband loves stuffed green peppers and he likes it the way his female parent used to make them, but I tried this new recipe and to my suprise he loved it. Cheers
01/02/2012
These are delicious! I follow the recipe exactly, with the exception I sprinkle cheese on superlative of the peppers. Our family unit likes extra cheese! Other reviews said "this is a basic pepper recipe", and while to them that might be true, I feel that I didn't need to add annihilation actress to spice it upward!
07/nineteen/2011
No one in my family unit likes green peppers so I used yellow and cherry-red peppers. Information technology was wonderful
04/02/2012
I changed about everything in this recipe, merely the idea is nonetheless the same. I only cooked for 2, and so 2 greenish peppers is all I fabricated. 1/two lb of ground beefiness, 1 cup of spaghetti sauce, 1 cup of instant white rice. After the beef was washed cooking, I added everything else, and allow the rice melt. I also added one/2 a stick of foam cheese which gave information technology a lot of flavour! Seasoned myself with italian seasoning, garlic pulverization (instead of using a clove of garlic, and Worcestershire. Great go to recipe though!
09/05/2014
Best blimp peppers I have ever made. Used the basic recipe but made some changes. Microwaved the peppers covered with a tiny bit of water for v minutes instead of humid them. Had "meatloaf" mixture (pork and beef) on mitt and used this. After draining the meat I added an envelope of onion soup mixture for seasoning. Used pureed tomatoes from the garden. Used Prego spaghetti sauce for topping. Delicious.
02/sixteen/2009
We made this recipe exactly as posted. We really enjoyed these stuffed peppers. I liked them much amend than a meatloaf blazon mixture. Thank you for sharing the recipe, it's a keeper!
07/17/2011
These were very tasty. Due to my own error (did not have a chapeau for the pot), the rice did non fully melt so information technology came out crunchy- but otherwise the flavors were good together. I might omit both the rice and the tomato plant-soup sauce next fourth dimension equally in that location was enough tomato season in the filling for the peppers. Family loved it, even the picky eaters!
04/04/2006
Sigh...amend than my Grandma's. Pitiful, Grandma. This is the boeuf borguignon of stuffed pepper recipes...simple, nourishing and truly delicious. This recipe takes the same basic ingredients and adds these flourishes I am non used to (and was admittedly delighted by): pepper cooking method (they came out with that delicious well-cooked vegetable taste, that wasn't overcooked or also limp...it nevertheless had body and rich flavor and structure), sweet lycopersicon esculentum soup (played then well with the other ingredients) and cheese in the stuffing mixture (gave the filling the consitution, body and season I ever knew was missing from other recipes I'd tried, my mother's and grandmothers). All in all a FANTASTIC recipe that, in my stance, PERFECTS "comfort food" stuffed peppers. Not fancy, not anything but simple, skilful food, done perfectly.
11/17/2011
Love this recipe utilise it all the time. Sometimes I utilise footing turkey, I always use Muir Glen fire roasted tomatoes, and I skip the tomato plant sauce.
